A few days ago, I purchased a Mac Pro. I received it with (2) 512MB modules. Everything worked great. I then purchased (2) 1GB modules from OWC, the one's with the large heatsinks. I installed them on the top riser (Dimm 1 and 2), and installed the (2) 512 MB modules on the bottom riser (Dimm 1 and 2).
From that point on, it's been nothing but ECC errors, usually occurring with Dimm 1 (top riser). After a day of testing, I called OWC, and they sent me a replacement for my faulty modules, but I'm having the same problems with the new ram. I tried moving ram from the top riser to the bottom and even tried switching the riser cards, but nothing has worked so far.
I should have a total of 3 GB of ram, but sometimes when I boot up the Mac Pro, the System Profiler will see (4) 512 MB ram, when it should clearly see:
1 512
1 512
1 GB
1 GB
I've attached some pictures. Does anyone have a clue as to why this is occurring? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
