HELP! File won't trash!

Hi. I ran into a little perdicament here on my mom's snow imac.

I downloaded iconquer. A game from versiontracker. Well explorer unexpectedly quit or did something that it always does (spinning beachball ya know the drill) and I got out. Well what was left is the iconquer.dmg file that was starting to download. Well here it sits on the desktop and I can't get rid of it! When I put it in the trash it says its in use and wait till its done with the task. So i've tried everything I can think of. I unlocked the file, even checked out process viewer to see if it was in use. Well its been 2 weeks and its still sitting on my mom's desktop when I came back.

Any Ideas? Thanks!
 
Tried to remove via terminal. No such file or directory. Yes i've restarted. Computer has been shut down and turned on a few times in 2 weeks.
 
get an app called Maintain at versiontracker. using the menu under the 'clean' tab, 'delete file'. this worked for me when i had the exact same problem.
