Hello Guys,
I am having a problem on my PowerMac G4, I have a Maxtor HDD (DiamondMax Plus 60 Ultra ATA 100) set to slave, running as a secondary HDD, and it has been working perfectly fine. However, recently the computer stopped recognizing its existence in my system. I tried switching the jumper around, and even moving it to run slave under the CDRoms ATA Cable. However, I still have had no success. If anyone has any ideas and ways which could help, I would greatly appreciate it. The HDD also makes no loud and obnoxious noises so I have no way of telling whether not its DOA it still hums and purrs the way it always did. Someone please help.

Sincerely,
Rob

It wasn't just before, but now it is. I went into Disk Utility and I tried to repair it and it said:
Verify and Repair disk “Boogie”
Checking HFS Plus volume.
Checking Extents Overflow file.
Invalid record count
Volume check failed.

Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit

1 HFS volume checked
1 volume could not be repaired because of an error

Does this mean all of my files on it are craped out? Is their anyway of saving them?

Sincerely,
Rob

This software is $100.00 How do I know for sure that it will work, thiers no trial or anything for it?

You don't know for sure, but other than reformating the drive, which will completely erase it, DiskWarrior is your only option for trying to repair this type of damage.

DiskWarrior is very good.

Thank You Guys,
It worked like a charm, everything came back. Now I am using iBackUp in case anything goes wrong again. Thank You So Much for Your Help.

Sincerely,
Rob
