help, lost access privileges

someone please help. i'm an osx newbie, but have somehow managed to mess things up with some unessescary poking around. it now makes me log in with a password (it never did before) every time i start up and once im in i appear to have lost all admin status as i cant adjust the system prefs or anything. is there a way to fix this?? thanks in advance

Sounds like you may have removed the Admin from the User. Check the User system preference for your username. Under kind for that username, does it say Admin. If not this is the problem. You will have to edit that user and under the password tab there should be a checkbox that allows that user to administer that computer. If this is not the case, hopefully someone else will be able to help you because the problem gets more Unixy. You did ot mes with Netinfo did you?
