Help Me Stop Those Office 2004 Voices

It's gotta be a simple solution but I'll be damned if I can figure it out.

I'm talking about the little error voices that happen in Office 2004 programs, like the 'oops' when I type an incorrectly spelled word or 'grammar error' when I improperly construct a sentence.

It might be a guy thing; I'm constantly looking for things that are right in front of me, so go ahead: gloat if you like over how easy it is to stop those annoying voices as long as you tell me how to do it.

Thanks,
-Mike

have you checked under preferences : General : uncheck the "provide feedback with sound" not sure if it solves it but give it a try or check the help

Open the MS Office 2004 folder>Office>
Double click the Microsoft Office Notifications
Under the Office Notifications Menu, you can turn sounds off.

Thanks Bob.
The odd thing is that Office Notifications are turned on but sounds have been turned off.
One other thing: Preferences (underneath 'Turn On/Off sounds") is greyed out.
Perhaps I need to trash the existing Office Notifications and start anew?
Whadya think?

Thanks again, Bob.
Well… Notifications and Sounds are both turned off.
But… went into word and typed 'ssn <space>' to check. And the voices says 'oops'
Arrggghhh.
Is Bill Gates getting back at me because I dumped my Microsoft stock?

Sure he'll be sitting by waiting for it to ring.

As proof of Microsoft's subborn refusal to be consumer friendly, just go to Mactopia and Office 2004 Help and Support then search the so-called 'Knowledge Base.'

Here's what Bill's company has to say: There are no documents that match your search for "Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac error notification"

It really sounds like the Logical MS way of functioning :

If your application is not working. Did you update? If yes, did you upgrade? If yes, try another product !

Hope for you the cash from dumping Bill was used for Steve :)
