So, I'm helping someone maintain a mailing list which is stored in an Appleworks database. We're using an Avery 8160 formatted label layout and the addresses for the mailing labels are in the database.
We started out having ONE field for a database record which would contain the entire mailing address. This was done to make it easier for the mailing list maintainer to add new addresses. The problem with this is the list can't be maintained in a sorted format this way.
So, I started adding fields for each part of the mailing address to the record definition and found we will need to manually move the information that is currently in a single field to the appropriate individual fields. No big deal.
Here is where I need help. I to format the new fields in the record such that the mailing labels continue to print using a 3-line format:
name
street address
city, state zip
I've attached a test database file so you can see where I'm currently at. In addition to adding the new fields to the record definition as described above, I've added two more fields for an additional first and last name. I was also going to ask about formatting those fields too but I think I've come up with an option that will work for those fields.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks!
Peace...
