Help opening installer file

My CD rom drive on my powerbook isn't working anymore and I want to install a game (Neverwinter Nights) that I have on CD on my laptop again.

To get around the broken CD-Rom issue I shared the CD drive on my PC and put the disc in, then got on my mac and viewed the CD-Rom drive with my network and copied the NWN Installer file onto my desktop.

When I try to open the Installer (a unix executable file) it tells me to "Choose Application" and I'm stuck.

I also tried dragging and copying the installer file to my mac's desktop and opening it there too.

Can someone please give me some advice?

Thanks very much in advance.

I wonder if you could get around all this by creating an ISO image (using your burning software on your PC), and then move that image to your Mac (via the network connection that you have between the two machines).

Someone else might be able to answer as to whether or not you can mount an ISO image on your Mac. If not, maybe you can use Disk Utility to convert the ISO disk image into a DMG disk image that the Mac can mount.

Just a suggestion, because I don't have the game you want to install, and can't test it out for you on my end.

Yes, you can mount an .iso image on your Mac. There is no need to convert it.
Well then that's nifty. I never tried it before. Good to know, however. Can you also burn the image easily, without any help from Toast or other burning software?

Disk Utilities is your friend.

Thanks VERY much for responding to my question guys. I'm going to try making an ISO of the game on my PC and then send it over to my mac and try to mount it. Hopefully copywrite protection doesn't prevent my PC from making it into an .ISO... I've never tried something like this before.

I'll let you know if it works.
