HELP!! Patchburn didn't help my external dvd burner...

Hi! I've got an external toshiba DVD+/- RW burner via a case, with a USB 2.0 connection with additional external powersource. Up until about a month ago it worked fantastically, and it still does work fantastically on my tablet pc (windows XP). But ever since the beginning of March, my powerbook G4 (10.3.9) won't even recognize that its there. Its not in the system profiler, toast titanium can't find it, and neither can patchburn.

Now I know that the usb ports are fine (I've got an ipod and external HDD hooked up right now), and that the burner itself works (as with the previously mentioned tablet pc). So I'm at a loss... I'd really rather not fork over the cash for another case... Anyone got any suggestions?

Does this mean that before March, your PowerBook G4 recognized and utilized the burner just fine? If so, what changed with your PowerBook (hardware, software) between now and then?

Yeah. Though, I was just giving that as a relative time frame. I've had the same set up for about 6 months now, not updating anything hardware or software-wise. (Beyond the last two security updates... but those didn't occur near when the system stop recognizing the external burner.)

Ah!!! There's got to be a solution out there that won't cost me forty bucks!! Money's fricken tight!
