I bought a QS 800Mhz, and would like to re-install the operating system. Currently I have a CD that says "Mac OS X Version 10.0", I also have a CD that says "Mac OS X v10.2 Upgrade" that is two discs.

I am assuming that 10.0 is upgradeable to 10.2. When I place the 10.0 CD into my CDRW drive, and boot off of it (Hold the "c" key) I get the "Happy Mac" logo and then after about 3 minutes several errors. Currently I have OS X 10.2 installed. What do I do to wipe the drive clean, and re-install?? Am I doing something wrong?? I am recent switcher.

gosh, there seems to be a rash of people who have come by an upgrade disk to whom it will do them no good. you must have 10.1.5 to use the upgrade disk. these were only intended to be used on a very few models that shipped with 10.1.5 at the time 10.2 was released. if you didn't have one of those models with 10.1.5 installed, the upgrade won't work. you have to buy the full version like everybody else. sorry.

but if you have it installed, why do you want to reinstall it? is there a problem? this isn't windows and most mac system problems can be solved without reformatting and reinstalling.

My situation was not related to a bad upgrade CD, but a quirkiness within the aging gossamer.

HOPEFULLY you have a full version of Jaguar. the way to tell is when you chose the drive to
install, click the options and select the clean install option. IF you have this option i would
guess you have a full version.

Also, if you can post what type of errors you getting, it may be helpful...
