Hey Everyone,

I am having problems with the following.

imac 500hmz, airport
"snow" airport, older version not extreme...( has only one ethernet port) macos X10.2.6 with airport card

Windows 98 450hmz. ethernet cable to airport

Now I may be barking up a tree with what I am doing so please let me know if I am being spastic.

I am trying to connect them all using DHCP server. I have installed the Airport admin for windows, and it starts checking for the airport but then give me an error of -4 and can;t connect. I have not added any ips to the windows machine or changed any networking settings.

With the airport I am not sure if I have to use shared ip, or what settings are needed for the windows machine.

I have added windows sharing on the imac.

What am I doing wrong? as it will not let me not let me connect either way. I hope I have given you enough info.

Does anyone have any guides on settup a airport that includes the setup of the windows machines.

Thanks

I don't have an AP base station, but if you're connecting it to a pc, does it require a cross over cable? If you happen to have one laying around, you could try it out. Or alternatively, if you have a hub or switch sitting around, try plugging them both into that instead of directly.

I finally got internet sharing going with the windows machine through the airport, but I still can;t get file sharing going .. ie samba :Z

Any i info on the samba side so that the macosx and windows will talk

Cheers
