Help with borderless printing with Canon S9000

Hi all,

This has been widely touted as working in 10.2 but I could never get it to work. I am using Canon's Glossy 4X6 Borderless Paper, and I always make sure that I select the Borderless Print option. However, the photo never gets printed inside the 'perforated' box - I invariable get the perforations INSIDE the picture's frame.

Is there a FAQ on how to get this working ?

Thanks,
Rama.

Dear Rama,

You too have a Canon S9000 printer! They great aren't they? Best printer that I have ever bought.

Anyway, help is at hand with your problems. I have had my printer for over a year, and I have had no trouble with it whatsoever.

The first thing that you got to do it install the latest driver for the printer, which is version 1.9. Don't pin you hopes on the driver that is supplied by Apple. Anyway, goto www.canon.com and select the Downloads section / Europe. There you are presented with hardware, select Bubble Jet and so on. Download the update and install and restart.

Now, in you description, you did not mention what application you are using to print from, but to get borderless printing to work, no matter what application you are in, you need to select the correct paper size in the "Page Setup" command that is under "File". There select the right printer; in the case S9000 and then the correct paper size.

If your application that you are working has it's own Page Setup dialog box like PhotoShop, the same less should appear and long S9000 printer is selcted.

This should work now.

Hope it helps.

Hi Micheal,

Thanks for your suggestions. I downloaded driver version 190 from the canon website. I am using iPhoto. These are the steps I followed:

1. Select the photo in the browser.
2. Set the File->PageLayout->paperSize to 4-6 borderless.
3. Put a Canon 4X6 Borderless PhotoGlossy paper in the printer.
4.Hit Print.

The photo get scaled down properly to 4X6 - however it does not get printed inside the perforated box - instead it gets printed from the edge of the paper - it is almost as if I need to set margins of some sort while printing.

Thanks for your help in advance,

Rama.
