I installed a gig of Crucial memory back a year ago in my 15.4" MBP, taking the memory up to 2 gigs. In the last month I had been getting random crashes - usually simply where the system hung over night. Screen saver is turned OFF.
I replaced the memory with 2 2-gig OWC modules last week, and while the incidence of crashes has lessened considerably, I came in this morning to find the same kind of system hang. This is what the log file said:
8/16/08 8:57:49 AM com.apple.launchctl.System[2] fsck_hfs: Volume is journaled. No checking performed.
8/16/08 8:57:49 AM com.apple.launchctl.System[2] fsck_hfs: Use the -f option to force checking.
8/16/08 8:57:50 AM com.apple.launchctl.System[2] launchctl: Please convert the following to launchd: /etc/mach_init.d/dashboardadvisoryd.plist
8/16/08 8:57:50 AM com.apple.launchd[1] (org.cups.cupsd) Unknown key: SHAuthorizationRight
8/16/08 8:57:50 AM com.apple.launchd[1] (org.ntp.ntpd) Unknown key: SHAuthorizationRight
8/16/08 8:58:32 AM com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.UserEventAgent-LoginWindow[95]) Exited: Terminated
8/16/08 8:58:51 AM com.apple.launchctl.System[2] BootCacheControl: could not fetch history: Cannot allocate memory
8/16/08 8:58:51 AM com.apple.launchctl.System[2] BootCacheControl: could not stop cache/fetch history: Cannot allocate memory
Can anyone help me understand what is going on? I seem to run Ok with just the original 1 gig that came with the MBP.
