Help with Drive Enclosure for Network Backups

I have been struggling with this for awhile.
I am a photographer and have tons of gigs of files.
I have 3 computers. 2 running leopard and one on snow leopard.
Wireless networked together.
A G5 is used as the "server" running leopard.
Inside the G5 I have a nearly full 2TB drive filled with pictures and a 1.5 TB drive nearly full as well.
I need to back up my MBP, my wife's Lampshade mac, and the contents of the G5.
Obviously I need at least 4TB of backup space.
What I would like to get is some kind of hard drive tower for multiple hard drives. I have tried a Buffalo Nas Drive and a RG4U-B 4 Bay RAIDGear SATA to USB 2.0 JBOD HD Enclosure.

The problem is that the solutions above reformat the drives so that I have been unable to actually use them as backups.
Another problem is that the G5 needs a single partition of 4TB to do it's backup with Time Machine.
I need serious advice and help.
Thanks R
