Help With Excel Menus

I am a PC user ( I know, I know ) and I am trying to give phone support to a Mac user who is using some Excel workbooks of mine. He is having a problem with the workbooks closing when he tries to enter costs into a certain column.

This problem only occurs on Macs running OSX ( Mac 9.x was fine ). The problem is that my workbooks use array formulas ( have to ) and I think that somehow OSX crashes when he enters data into a column that the array formulas are looking at. When I remove the array formulas, the problem goes away. But parts of the workbooks won't work without them.

Two questions ..

1. Can he turn off automatic calculation in Excel for the Mac? And where is that in the Mac Excel menus? On a PC it is Tools/Options/Calculation/Manual. But he doesnt have and Options choice. I am hoping that he can turn off automatic calculation, enter the data, then turn calculation back on and use the workbooks.

2. Has anyone encountered this problem/bug on OSX? Know more about it? Suggestions for fixing it or working around it?

Regards,

Vernon

Excel for Mac does not have Options, it has Preferences, SO:

Go to the Excel menu, choose Preferences, then click on Calculation, and click on Manual. You can choose to re-calculate at any time by pressing (cmd+=)
