Help with my iBook G3 800Mhz 640 MB OS 10.2.8

Hello all and thanks for considering helping me.

I purchased a used iBook on eBay about a year ago for cheap. It's a great little laptop and used it all the time.

I live in a remote area where I get NetZero dial up service which was satisfactory for what I did on it.

But then it would not work anymore because messages would come on the screen saying I needed to update my browser. When I went to update that, Mozilla Firefox, then it recommended a newer OS version.

OK - my question is what is the newest version of OS that I can run on a G3-800 Mhz w/ 640 MB Ram iBook 12 inch laptop?

Also worth noting is the fact that when I take the lil' iBook with me when traveling it can access the web via AirPort and all the browsers run OK - Safari, Opera and Mozilla Firefox.

Any help with this vexing proble would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much...

If you want, or need to update to a newer version of web browser - most any will need at least 10.4 now.
Your G3 iBook can be upgraded to OS X 10.4, then updated as high as version 10.4.11
Two things to consider when updating to OS X 10.4
Do you have enough RAM memory installed? And, you are OK with 640MB, the maximum possible for your G3 iBook.
Do you have enough hard drive space available to do that upgrade? Some iBooks did not have a very large hard drive to begin with. Regardless of the hard drive capacity, I think you should have a minimum of 5GB space free, or 15% of total capacity as free space, whichever is more.

Thank you very much, I'll try to upgrade soon. I was surprised as to how much these upgrades cost. It seems Apple upgrades hold their value like a fine wine or automobile. But I've learned the hard way, by using other operating systems and computers that were inferior to Apple - that - "you get what you pay for."

Thanks again...
