help with reformatting or enabling permissions on ntsf formatted external harddrive

Hi guys

I have an ntsf formatted harddrive, i would like to know if there is anyway of reformatting or enabling the permissions on the harddrive with my mac.

nope, os x can only read ntfs formatted drives. it can not write to them, and therefore can not format or change permissions. there are some non apple patches that will let you, but from what i hear, calling them buggy and unstable is putting it nice.
 
That is partially correct. You will not be able to write to your NTFS partition, but you can reformat the drive, losing any data on the drive that wasn't backed up on a separate drive.

Use disk utility to do this, and think about what you are doing before you click the format button.
