Help with remote xwindow session please?

My school has linux computers that I can connect to through ssh and remotely use the applications on them. For example, right now I do this:
- Start X11
- Run the command "ssh -X username@server.blah" and log in
- Start applications by typing something like "kwrite &"

I was just wondering if there is a better way to do this -- one that maybe will let me see the whole KDE interface with the taskbar and everything (so I can clik on programs to start them instead of using the command prompt)

Will appreciate any input/suggestions!

i know im new, and i dont know that much about ssh, but here is what i know (or think i know). i think that using ssh can only be text, i think you would need something like a remote desktop program.

Hm, I'm realizing I didn't search well enough before asking this question. I'm looking through other topics right now. Maybe an admin can delete this thread until I do my duty of searching?
