I own a powerbook G4(purchased in 05). As a gift for gradschool, I received a PC(unfortunately). I am currently trying to transfer all my music over to the new computer but am unable to do so because my G4 won't recognize my IPOD touch because it doesn't have OSX/Itunes 8. Is there any way to get all my music onto my IPOD touch without having to spend $130 to buy OSX, which in turn will allow me to download itunes 8, which in turn will allow me to put the music on my IPOD Touch?

How did you get your music onto the iPod Touch without having iTunes installed on your PowerBook? You need to tell us that if we are to help.

If you had someone else do this for you and some of the music on your iPod Touch was purchased by them from the iTunes store, the only way the files would play on your PC is if they let you enter their authorization code on your PC's version of iTunes.

Having said that, you can find programs which run under Windows that will download the music off of an iPod, even though this isn't sanctioned by Apple. It won't, however, make it playable if you don't own it.

All my music is on my powerbook G4, but my G4 doesn't have Itunes 8. My G4, in turn, cant download Itunes8 because it does not have OSX 10.4.9 or later. It is running 10.3.9. So, I'm trying to download 10.4.9 or later without paying the 130 bucks, because all I really want is my music off of my G4. I also tried buying a thumb drive to transfer all my music that way, but the G4 recognize my thumbdrive as an external driver either. It sucks! Any help would be awesome!

I'm not trying to do anything illegal, I just want to know if that is the only way to get my music off my old computer. It would be nice if I could get all this music, that I already purchased legally, off my computer without paying an extra 130 dollars to get more software. It just seems kinda messed up that I have to purchase more software(130 dollars worth that I cant afford, especially right now) to access and get the music onto my IPOD touch that I already purchased.

Four options spring to mind, none having anything to do with the iPod touch.
1.) Connect the two computers via Ethernet or WiFi and copy the stuff via network.
2.) Use a USB-memorystick.
3.) Use an external harddrive.
4.) Burn the MP3/AAC data files to a CD or DVD.
