I bought a powerbook whilst i was visiting in the USA. I come from Greece and i study in UK. I called apple in UK and they told me that i will not ne able to find a US update of OS X. Please let me know if i can download it from anywere in US.

I might be wrong, but I thought that OS X was not localised in the same way as OS 9 and before. You choose the language you want in the installer. Both of my Macs (G4 and iBook) are US models and I installed the original OS X with no problem and all the updates that followed.

You might want to ask someone who has OS 10.1 what kind of localisation settings were presented in the installer.
