Hi Speed Portable External Hard Drive

I have recently purchased my second USB external hard that my MAC cannot recognize. This one is the ION USB External hard Drive (GHD225U40W). The installation disc has sorftware for Mac OSX9 but nothing for 10X. The hard drive also will work with speeds of 1.1. I thought I read once that hard drive that did both will not work with Mac. Any suggestions?
 
I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work, although I will point out that USB 1.1 is pretty slow, so you won't really get ay advantage out of having a high-speed drive anyway.

Firstly, though, have you formatted the drive yet? If its brand new, it won't be formatted, so you'll need to go into Applications --> Utilities --> Disk utility and format the drive.
