What the hidden Dock does now:
Jumps out from hiding at the slightest provocation. Sometimes I'm not aiming for the Dock when I mouse towards the edge of the screen -- maybe it's a scroll bar, or a tool palette I want. The Dock is like punishment for imprecise mousing.
Here's what I'd like it to do:
Keep the Dock hidden until it is specifically invoked via command of by clicking a specific place at the edge of screen. I used to use an app in OS 9 called A-Dock, which would be invoked by clicking a thin bar it would place at the edge of the screen. I'd like to do something similar with the official Dock.
Can it be done?
