Hi all,

I am new to macosx forumsI have a macbook pro 13 inch (late 2010 model). Recently, the activity monitor is showing 4.5 MB/s to 10MB/s network rx rates even though there is no download going on and no web browser is running. My system has also show me the kernel panic error message thrice (i am not sure whether they are related). Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,
Varun

Do you have any Dashboard widgets running that fetch data every so often? Do you have any weather or other fetching programs living in your Finder menu bar?

Open /Applications/Utilities/Console and try to find what is download these files. Plus in /Applications/Utilities/ find Activity Monitor and see if anything that is third party is running.

Lastly was Software Update getting an Update at this time?

PS- Check system Preferences->Network pane, Advanced button and check your DNS and make sure the only DNS is your Gateway ISP IP or your router.
