Home folder is 39GB, yet all visible folders add up to 12GB...

Is this normal?

I've been trying to get more space, and I've done as much as I can, but still that seemed pretty large.

Get OmniDiskSweeper from www.omnigroup.com ... In the test version the only thing you can't do is use the delete button of the app (but you can still delete stuff in the Finder, of course). It helps you finding the big files, invisible or not.

Well, not literally attach them, but post the file names, so you can determine if they're safe to delete or not.
