Hooking up a G5 to a projector

My school is buying me a projector for my G5. Before I use to hook up my g4 powerbook that had an s-video connection to a projector.

My issue is that my computer will be around 20 feet away from my computer. What cords do I need to make this work?

My projector interfaces with: Mini D-sub 15 pin Computer/Component video, Mini DIN S-video, RCA Composite video, RCA x 2 Composite audio, Monitor out, Variable audio out, Control I/O

What do I need to buy to be able to project from a distance?

You will get the highest quality with the VGA signal, so I would use that. I have used a 25-foot VGA cable to run a computer signal to a projector, and it worked beautifully. You may need to order such a cable online, or find a specialty store. Depending on what kind of G5 we are talking about, you may need an adapter to convert the output to VGA.

G5 MacBook Pro? That computer doesn't exist. No G5 processor was ever put into a laptop computer.

Do you have a desktop G5 PowerMac, or do you have a MacBook Pro laptop computer?

"G5" refers to the IBM PowerPC processor that Apple used to use in its desktop computers. Now they have switched to Intel processors, the same processors you find in MS Windows computers.

If you have a Mac Book Pro, that has an intel microprocessor.

Good luck and let us know how it works for you.
