Host file and mac OS X

I use a Hots file in my TcpIp settings to see our Intranet website within OS 9.2 How do use a host file in OS X?? I setup a locval host within the Netinfo Manager application and it does not work, when i try to view our intrantet via netscape or explorer it can not find it. Someone out there. anyone out there please help

FYI
I did do a search on host on the apple website and what i found was instructions on how to create a host file within the netinfo manager, which did not work. that's the reason for me posting here. so that i don't waste any more time!
 
I figured it out!! My host file in os 9 reads: mycomputer.com, so in os x using netinfo i would give the name value the following name: mycomputer.com causing the host file not to work. when i changed the name value to read: "mycomputer" without the .com it worked.
