How can I assign a display for an app to load in?

I have dual displays running on a G5 1.8 and some programs load in the last display it was open in, but others it doesn't.

How can I choose which display for the app to load in?

thanks.

You appear to be totally confused. Dual displays may either mirror each other or they may act as a single display spanning two screens. This behavior is global as determined by the Displays preferences pane. In the former case, the two screens display the same information. In the latter case, one display is chosen as the primary display which hosts the menu bar. You may drag any window to from one display to the other or you may expand any windows to span both displays.

Some apps will always open on the display it was on when quit, others won't do this. This is something to do with the apps, not the system.

no, I understand about the displays and the menu bar. My desktop spans both displays. Every app, besides Firefox, always loads on the primary display. I'll give some examples.

When I open my HD, I want the window to come up on my secondary display (left side of my expanded desktop). So, I open the drive. Move the window to the left display and then close it. But, If I open it again, it still opens on the right side. This means moving it over everytime I manage my files.

Firefox on the other hand, opens in the same location I left it in.

Some programs for me, open on the display where it was when quit. Firefox. Safari, Eudora, Calculator for some. Textedit, MacTracker won't.

As for the hard drive, if I have it on the second display and close it, it will open on that display again.

I'm running 10.4.6.

What system are you using?
