does anyone had an idea how i can connect 2 Macs, over a dial-up connection?? when one of the mac is connected is there a way that other is connected too!?!?

thanks for help from now...

Do you mean you want one mac to dial the other mac? Or are they both in the same place and you want them to both be able to share a dial-up connection?

my bad, the solution below is not OS X, runs in classic... sorry

Sounds like you want to use one Mac as a proxy server. SurfDoubler from <vicomsoft.com> does the trick for 50 clams. It will share a dialup connection with up to two other computers, Mac or PC. You will need to have the computers connected in an ethernet LAN, either directly or through a hub.

Another solution would be a LinkSys router and an external modem, but the first way is cheaper.

Vicomsoft used to have a freeware proxy server, but I only see the pay4 version now. There may be freeware proxy server programs available, anyone know?

Go to the Sharing pref pane...

Turn on Internet sharing...

Dial that machine...

Connect the 2nd one to the first via ethernet...

Done!

If you are talking about having two macs in the same place sharing a dial-up connection, then you do not need any extra software. TommyWillB is spot on; just connect the two macs using ethernet, get one of the machines to dial onto the network, and then turn on Internet Sharing on that machine.
