How can I convert asf movies into a format that works on iMovie?

My digital camera saves movies as asfs and does not have windows drivers. I can take the SD card out and put it in a reader and put the file on my mac but have no way to edit or watch it from there. Is there a good, free, ASF to MPEG or MOVE program?

You should be able to import them natively by installing the WMV Player codec for QuickTime.

If not, try ffmpegX.

ASF? Are you sure? Which model digicam is this? You see, ASF is not generally a movie format. This is usually the extension for a pointer to streaming Windows Media on a remote server. The extension for video on a digicam is usually AVI.
