First of all, I am using an iMac 20", with Intel Duo Core 2Ghz, 512MB of RAM, 128MB ATI Radeon X1600, running Mac OS X 10.4.7 (Tiger).

I've installed VLC or VCL whatever that is, MPlayer and Flip4Mac but I cant even believe that those softwares cant even play subtitles... The subtitles formats I use are SRT and SUB. How can I play my videos with subtitles on my Intel Mac?

Thanks a lot in advance,
Gab

VLC can play subtitles, but it's not always perfect at detecting when subtitles are present. If the subtitle file is in the same folder as the movie and has the same name (with a different extension, of course), then it should autodetect it. Then you can turn it on and off while playing under the Video menu.

You can configure how VLC autodetects subtitle files. It could be that the default setting isn't the best. Go to VLC's preferences, and select Video > Subtitles/OSD. Check the "Advanced" box in the bottom corner to see some autodetection settings.

If you absolutely can't get it to autodetect the subs, then you can specify them manually in the File > Open File dialog.

AFAIK, there is no way to play SRT or SUB files in QuickTime without first converting them to a different format (which is not easy).
