How can I take apart my yo-yo power supply (to fix wire) ?

I think the picture says it all.

I couldn't find any screws or snaps on the yo-yo, so I was wondering if it's even possible to take apart or if the plastic's welded together in the factory à la if-something-goes-wrong-just-replace-it ?

I'm a little concerned that one day someone will be walking along in the library, trip on the cord and rip it out of the yo-yo (yeah I tape the wire the the floor but still) or that it could just fail one day...

Don't bother trying to take it apart. The phrase "no user servicable parts" applies here.
However, don't despair. Even though the yo-yo is almost certainly out of warranty (it hasn't been sold with new equipment for nearly three years) you'll probably find Apple are willing to replace it under warranty anyway (they were in my case - twice!).
Even if that's not a go-er, yo-yo supplies are easy to find on ebay for a very low cost, or your local Apple dealer is bound to have dozens of the little fellers lying around out back, and may be persuaded to part with one for the price of a couple of coffees.

They haven't been shipped for 3 years ? What supplies do current iBooks use, a block like all the other notebooks in the world ?

No, they now use the Apple Portable Power Adapter, which is a stylish little squarish thing with interchangable plug bits for different plug types around the world, and pop out clips for winding the cable.
The yo-yo was phased out a couple of years back.

Wow way to be with the times :p

I'll check one out at my campus bookstore, then tend to be dirt cheap there (iLife is 35$ Canadian ;))
