How come System Profiler does not list 200+ GB hard disk?

Folks,

Under System Profile, my Ultra-Tek133P+ PCI card is listed, but the 189 GB Maxtor 6L200P0 is not listed under ATA drives? The card is listed as an ata type card. And Disk Utility can see the drive and it is usable.

Thanks,

-peter

The drive is probably listed under SCSI devices. Do you see it there? Some ATA drive adapters (maybe all of them) 'see' the drive as a SCSI device, due to the type of firmware on the drive adapter card, I suppose.

And you said you can use it, and it functions OK?
Disk Utility will probably tell you how the system identifies it. Just click on that drive (not your partition name, but the hardware device), and look at Connection Bus for the info that you want.

Thanks for the insight. Disk Utility does list it under ATA. So System Profiler is behind the times. Oh well. Thanks.
