How do I close all programs in Dock with shortcut?

Is there a way or a command to close all open applications in the Dock without having to do an individual Quit on each one?

Don't know if one is available for quiting all applications. The Finder is an application and would also quit.

The way I do it (in 10.2.8) is hold down the command key and then tab between the open applications, pressing the q button at any application I want to quit. Its not a single key combo but I've got it down to way less than a second to quit 4 or 5 running apps.
