How do I get Firefox to open when click on email link?

I prefer Firefox. But when I click on a link in an email, it opens in Safari. I searched for 'browser' and 'default' in my computer's help (no hits), and I searched the forum for 'apple mail' and 'firefox' with no good hits.

Maybe related, but I see no way to make Firefox my default browser. I do have it set to open on startup, and safari does not open. But if I click on a link in an email, it will still open safari instead of using Firefox.

Having your browser open, or open at startup, does not make it the default browser for the system.
FireFox preferences, then Advanced/General - "Always check to see if FireFox is default"
Or, open Safari's preferences/General tab. You can select any other browser installed on your Mac to be the default browser.
I'm not certain if that default setting will always be recognized by every app that might show internet links. You'd have to test that, I suppose.

I feel like an idiot. I certainly asked an idiot question. My memory must be playing games with me; I thought I checked for that obvious method. Yea, it works too; not even a restart, the email link opened in Firefox.

Now all I need to find is a text editor that won't word wrap (just display a horizontal scrollbar).

Thanks DeltaMac!

Downloaded, installed, and somewhat configured. Nice. I was using TextPad on my PC and really missed a replacement. Thanks.
