how do I increase LOCAL drive space

I'm trying to install civilization IV on an Imac G5, power processor, 1.8 Ghz, 512 ram, 80 GB hd, on tiger. When I click on the disc it says I need more local drive memory. When I check the drive, it has 2GB of memory, which is the size of the disc. What do I do?

You're probably checking the DVD's space instead of the harddrive space it's asking for. You increase "local drive space" by deleting files from your harddrive. How much free space do you have on the harddrive?

Well do some cleaning maintenance with either Yasu or Onyx and run all the cleaning routines.

Then to clean some space you should really get an external LARGE disk. Use Firewire 800 (if you have a modern Mac) for the fastest connection. Then move all your Movies, music and pictures (usually the largest files) to that drive. This will free a large portion of your internal drive.

Also you could clone (with either Carbon Copy Cloner your internal, boot from the external and replace your internal and put in a larger drive and clone back to the internal.
