How do you eject the CD - stuck in installer

Stupid question. I'm reinstalling Mac OS X, and have the Tiger upgrade DVD in there. I need to install Panther first, but in the installer (and I'm using a Mac Mini) I can't eject the CD!!! it's software based and there option to eject the CD!! Please help, I need to have this ready by tomorrow afternoon. Ugh!

01. Turn OFF the Mac Mini.
02. Press and keep pressed the (left) mouse button.
03. Turn ON the Mac Mini (with the mouse button still pressed). In time, the disc should eject.
04. Release the mouse button.

Actually, even if you hold it down after the startup chime it works. I've done it this way without fail.
