How do you set up joystick in X-PLANE?

Hello - I have installed x-plane 6.51 (www.x-plane.com) on OSX 10.2.3 with a
Thrustmaster 2 joystick.

The joystick is recognised and I can see all controls working in the
Set Joystick Axis and Buttons screen but it seems not to be possible
to assign the aileron or elevator to the joystick.

I have seen postings that you need to push the option key...but that
makes no difference.

Q: Help please in how to get the joystick set up properly for flight

Howdy,

How is it not possible? When you move the joystick you can see the green bars moving on each axis right? Is there no bar for the axis you want to use? Or can you not select pitch or roll from the dropdown menu?

( I have to use X-Plane at work arn't I a lucky boy)

Thanks for the reply....in the mean time the problem has "solved itself". Indeed, the problem was that I could not get pitch or roll to show up in the items that could be assigned.

Don't know why it works now and it did not before!

Good to hear it. For future reference the ususal first approach to any xplane problem is to nuke its preferences folder an then start over. Not pretty but then I think Austin's priorities are elsewhere.
