How do you take pics of the desktop (not using a camera)?

application called grap or press Apple+shift+4

apple shift 3 = all screen.
apple shift 4 = you select the area you want the snapshot of.
apple shift 4 space = screenshot of a window (select)

That app is called "Grab" (not trying to be nitpicky, but he'll come up empty if he searches for "grap")
