How does one permanently delete a startup-item in X(.2.2)?

ever since 9, I haven't been able to delete MSN messenger from the startup item list, any way to do it in X?

MSN Messenger -> Preferences -> General -> UNCHECK "Run this program when I start my computer".

Then, it won't run when you start your computer :p

RPS, if it's unchecked that's pretty messed up! Try checking it, savign the pref, then unchecking it and re-saving the pref (maybe something didn't get written to disk last time you saved it).

You need to remove it from the Login items list in the OSX System Preferences. The MSN installer probably added it without asking you.

And you could always try using Proteus if you want to find out what a good IM is compared to MSN.

Well the strange thing is, it's been unchecked there from the beginning...
And I know I have to delete it from my startup-item-list, but whenever I do that, it just spawns itself back the next time I reboot.
