How to access CD-ROM/iTools,ect.

I was wondering how do you access other disks that are mounted on the machine in the "Computer" directory on the finder inside the Terminal. I can't seem to find where these disks are mounted (i.e., how do I get to the CDROM directory or iTools or a firewire drive). On my SGI these disks actually have directories that they must be mounted to, but I can't seem to find something similar on my Mac. Thanks.

in general, on any UNIX system, just type mount, and it will list all mounted volumes, along with the mount point. OSX is no exception.

but short answer, everything gets mounted under /Volumes, like gigi said
