I update my system when needed. Now i want to do a total cleanup of my machine. when i do so, i will loose all the updates.

Is there a location on my computer where all the (apple) update installers are stored so i can burn them on a CD?

I don't think they are stored unless you downloaded a dmg file and deliberately kept it. If you used software update then you def won't have them Assuming you have broadband, i would just download the most recent combo update for your system from apple.com (10.3.5 combo for panther, or 10.2.8 combo for jaguar) and burn that to a cd.

If you check out all of the options 'Software Update' provides, you'll see that you can choose to download each update that appears instead of just installing them. But: You can simply download the 'Combined Updater' of 10.3.5 and won't need any earlier system and/or security updates. So just burn that for your total reconstruction...

nice! Thanx for the tip !
but do i have, for example, to download the java updater also, seperately? and the airport updater? etc?

Ah, those... Yes, those would be separate, I guess. But for the future, I'd choose to download them instead of installing them. Also depends on your bandwidth, I guess, i.e. if your bandwidth is good, you might only want to save the bigger ones like Combo system updaters and let the rest install over the network...
