How to chage system icons

i am new to the mac world and i have been trying to change my desktop icons. i got one to change but when i try to change another it becomes invisible?
Why does this happen? Thanks for the help Everyone.

It's a pathetic bug in apples operating system.

If it goes invisible it probably has updated, try logging out then logging back in and it'll show up.


Apple should have fixed this over a year ago.

But as is becoming evident....

Restarting the Finder also works.

I am running on Jaguar 10.2. Not quite sure which build but changing the icon is and I mean impossible .

If anyone knows how to - be sure to reply.

I sort of rember a file sum were in the Core Services Folder

YOu convert it sum how and its all the icons in X

THats all i can rember
