I zip archived a application installer at work today and brought it home. When I unzip it the file kind has changed to Unix executable file so I cannot run it in panther because it keeps wanting to open the installer with an application.

So I need to know how to change the file 'kind' from Unix executable file to 'application'.

Hope someone can be of help

Thanks

Try adding the file ending .pkg if it isn't there. That's a unix package or standard Mac OS X installer file. If that doesn't do the trick, try control-clicking the file and see if you can select "Installer" from the "open with" menu.

thanks for replying so quickly. I tried that but its not an osx .pkg is an application that uses installer vise or something like that. But I think my problem is the file kind I want it to be is Application because the Installer is a OSX application

In that case, the file ending should be .app. If that still doesn't work, the file is probably corrupted.
