how to delete a widget

how do i delete a widget from my dashboard?... i have ..Mac OS X....10.6.8
i would appreciate any help...i'm trying to get rid of the fish tank... thank you
 
Access the dashboard with F12, click the plus sign at the bottom left of the screen, and then close the widget with the X symbol that appears on it, then choose Manage Widgets, and uncheck the box next to the name of the item.
 
You can also hold down the 'option' or 'alt' key, mouse over the widget you want to remove, then click the circled-X icon that appears next to the widget.
