Hi guys. I have been trying to watch a Veoh movie on firefox but it keeps giving me the error
''Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (veoh) isn't associated with any program''.

the people at firefox say to make changes in the about:config and so on.. you can find it here https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/The+protocol+is+not+associated+with+any+program

this problem arises because firefox needs to tell it to open an external program, in my case being Veoh. so the main problem arises when i try to determine the path to the hardrive where the program is installed. Obviously veoh is in the applications but how to i define it. I have been trying to define a path to where veoh is installed so that the program can launch. Help would be greatly appreciated

I had a problem similar to this with a "mailto" protocol. Not sure what caused the problem as it was something my wife was doing at the time.

I went to the Firefox "Preferences". Clicked on the "Applications" tab. mailto was in the list. The action was set to "Always Ask". By clicking on "Always Ask" I got a drop down menu that allowed me to choose Eudora.

If you check this preference you should hopefully find a Veoh option in the list, or a video generic that you can change the action to "Veoh".

That's where I would look first, anyway. If that fails, you may need to check your system requirements - OSX version, Firefox version, Adobe Flash version etc. Or reinstall some bits. Maybe the Veoh plug-in, if there is one, isn't in the right place for Firefox to see it?

I tried everything you suggested above but it gives me the same problem. I even updated the quick time player and flash player, tried reinstalling the web player itself. The thing was that when i went to preferences to check for the 'always ask' option veoh videos were already configured to open by Veoh web player. The only slight difference was that while all the other programs had symbols before them such as a Power Point document the Veoh did not have a symbol before it, only the web player did. So im thinking maybe theres something wrong with my version of firefox i.e. 3.5.3 ? Anybody else facing the same problems?

In order to set Firefox to use a particular application to open a file type, I click the dropmarker on the line for that file type, and choose "Use other...". If that application is in the system applications directory, I can navigate to it by choosing the drive "Macintosh HD" and then Applications. In the pull-down list in that box that you get from "Use other...", any drive you have mounted should be listed.

From what I know (and heard from other people as well), veo videos don't play anymore on firefox neither with veoh player--that's the reason why you're seeing the Protocol Veoh error. If you really want to play that movie, you, you may try it on other applications like safari, and I doubt if you'll still have that problem.
