When I start to type a URL in the URL box in Safari a drop down list appears of visited sites. How do I edit or delete this list. I tried to reset safari and also turn off auto fill but these methods don't work.

Bookmarked sites will always auto-complete.

If you clear your history, then history sites will no longer show up.

Some default sites (like apple.com) will always show up, I believe.

Clearing the history or resetting Safari doesn't help, even installing a new version of Safari didn't help in teh past.

WHen you type into teh URL bar a drop down menu shows all sites visited that start with teh letter you have typed.

I want to delete some of these or all if possible so that when I type a url the url box isn't always trying to auto formfill the URL

Thanks

Strange... it works for me.

If you do a "Show All Bookmarks" from the Bookmarks menu, there are a lot of pre-installed Collections on the left-hand side. Are you sure it's not just auto-completing these bookmarks? What happens if you remove some of the collections? These Collections get re-installed whenever you update Safari.

As far as I know there is no other "list" you can edit to remove these... I believe you must remove these Collections.

Which specific sites auto-complete for you that you cannot get rid of?
