I have a MacBook Pro with no modem. Yet the modem/phone icon appears in my crowded menu. Is there a way to make this disappear? Thanks!

'Is there a way to make this (modem/phone icon) disappear?'

01. Launch 'System Preferences' (in the /Applications/' folder, or via the 'Apple, System Preferences' menu item).
02. Click on the 'Network' utility icon.
03. From the resultant window's 'Show:' popup menu - select 'Internal Modem'*.
04. Click on the 'Modem' tab.
05. Click on the 'Show modem status in menu bar' check box, to remove the check mark.

* - If 'Internal Modem' is not listed, then ...
01. Select 'Network Port Configurations'.
02. Click on the 'Internal Modem' check box - to add a check mark.
03. Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
04. Perform the above Steps - 03 through 05.

Is the modem enabled in the configuration. If so, you can remove it from the system by

selecting network from system preferences, select ' configure ports' and unmark the modem (and any other unused network port).

Good luck, Kees
