how to help with mail and gmail

i can't seem to get the search function working right now so ill ask --- im having a real hard time with gmail and my mail app working i cant get any messages --- but i can send

im using an ibook 500 maxed ram 10.3.9

i thought i read it here or was sent another link from here but i can find it and i remember i had to do somt stuff that seemed a little wacky --- i wnat to use it more and even add a few more mail acct to my mail app

any how to can help

Gmail works fine for me, sending, recieveing and searching all work.

Is your incoming mail server set to pop.gmail.com and your outgoing mail server set to smtp.gmail.com? And did you set the account type to 'POP'? Have you put entered you username and password?

i followed google's instructions to the "t" and al has been well with apple's mail and my gmail account. 1st thing i'd do is go back to google's how-to and redo all the steps. make sure you have set gmail up to allow mail to work with it too.
