HOW to install Tiger on blue imac g3 266mhz?

im not completely new to the mac world but im having trouble trying to install Tiger on this blue imac 266 the osx install disk is a dvd but the imac only has a standard cd rom. How can i go about installing osx on this machine. its currently running 8.5 I have a legit copy of osx that i bought and really want to upgrade. is it even possible. what tricks of the trade do i need to do. I hope this is the correct forum and that someone can help

Only Macs with FireWire are supported for Tiger (10.4.x). However you can trade in your Tiger DVD for a 3-CD set. You should have a coupon for this inside the box Tiger came in. They you will have the right media atleast.

The 266 MHz iMacs did not have FireWire IIRC. So your iMac doesn't meet the minimum requirements for Tiger. -> Panther would be the right OS for that machine.
 
OK how do i go about getting the 3 disk set, i dont think i have the paper you were talking about to get the 3 cd's.
 
AFAIK, there is no technical barrier to installing Tiger on a machine without Firewire. It's not supported, but that just means Apple won't help you if something goes wrong.
