You don't. As a rule, Mac sound support in on the motherboard rather than a third-party sound card. The Help page dealing with Playback deals exclusively with Windows XP. However, you need to make sure that you have properly selected your audio output device. Launch System Preferences and click the Sound icon.

Hi MisterMe,
thanks. I did just what you said now. The audio output device is set to Headphone but the audio input device? .. 'no input devices found'
But the question remains. I start up skype on my Mac and I cannot use the system due to the error message failed: playback error.

What can be done to correct this?
The point is that I have a Windows OS somewhere else and it works perfectly wihout an itch when I use the skype.

What do you suggest therefore if I must use the skype on Mac
For the recordas, I am using the latest edition of Skype for MAc released january 2006!

which mac are you using ? if you don't have a built in microphone then NO INPUT so your problem should be solved by plug in a microphone.

make sure it's recognised in syspref > sound as previously mentionned by MisterMe

try to check the audio prefs of skype aswell they should be the same as above I believe

Hope this helps
