How to make a bootable cd?

I have a bootable cd that I was wanting to copy after modifying it a little. I tried making an image of the cd with DiskCopy making it read-write and then trying to burn the cd, but I haven't been able to make it bootable. Can you help?

insert the CD you want to make an image of, drag it over in Toast, and then I think there should be a menu to make an image of it instead of burning it :)

ok, boot in the system you intend to copy. be sure virtual memory is turned off and any extensions you will need are enabled. create a new cd folder in toast and name it whatever you want. drag and drop the system folder to toast. open it and go thru and delete any files/folders that you do not want. add any additional software you require. burn your disc. enjoy booting from it.

btw, roxio has a very detailed faq on this process on their web site.

I guess that you are trying to use the system folder from your hd, the secret is to go thru and delete all those extensions you don't need, all the app support files that don't matter, etc.. in other words use the delete function in toast window to trim your system down to the minimum required to run the app you are putting on the disk with it and to recognise any drives you might need as well.

i've made some boot cd's that didn't include everything i needed this way so expect to fail at least once.

alternate way is to go to extension mananger and make a new set of extensions with what you want and reboot using those. if everything you want to use is working, you should be all set. you might still need to trim a few files from toast but that should go quickly.

what's in that system folder of yours anyway?:p
